Proposed garden outing: Drummond Castle Gardens

Our next garden visit is proposed for Tuesday 20 October 2026.

We’ll travel to Drummond Castle Gardens in our own or shared cars and meet in the garden car park at 11.00am, when the gardens open.

The entrance is on the A822 Muthill Road, about two miles south of Crieff (postcode PH7 4HN). It’s about one mile along the beech-lined driveway to the castle and garden car park. Adult admission is £12.50 per person, payable individually.

The castle’s original tower dates from around 1490. Below it lie formal gardens with terraces, clipped hedges and a historic sundial. The castle itself is closed to visitors, but autumn should be a lovely time to enjoy the gardens and the changing colours of the trees.

The usual route into the gardens involves steep steps. Anyone who would prefer to avoid them can ask at the ticket office for directions to the lower garden entrance via the potting shed access drive, where there is a separate parking area. Some garden paths are gravel.

Afterwards, we propose driving back towards Crieff for lunch or coffee at the Crieff Garden & Visitor Centre, Muthill Road, PH7 4HQ. It has a restaurant, garden centre, Caithness Glass viewing gallery and Highland Drovers Exhibition.
