The ospreys at Loch of Lowes

Wednesday 17 April - 10:30am
We will meet at the car park of the Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre.

Depending on the traffic, it takes almost an hour to travel to the reserve from Stirling.  The reserve is situated 16 miles north of Perth and 2 miles north east of Dunkeld, just off the A923 Dunkeld to Blairgowrie road (signposted from the A9). The car park is situated adjacent to the visitor centre.  If the car park is busy, there is also parking at a layby just before the centre.  The car park is not big and we should try to arrange car sharing where possible.  At this point, you have the choice of visiting the centre and viewing the ospreys, who have returned early this year, before the walk or you may prefer to do this after completing the walk.  The reserve is open from 10.30am and the concession entry fee is £5.  Toilets and refreshments are available there.  It is recommended that you bring a snack, water and. If you want, binoculars

The circular walk is 4 to 5 miles on tracks or quiet roads with one steep section. It will be muddy in places so boots or good walking shoes are essential and bring walking poles, if you use them.  The walk from the reserve takes us to Dunkeld (half way through the walk) and there will be time to walk to the Cathedral and back by the river, or the Deli is good for coffee, before heading back to the cars.

Please let me know if you intend to come on this walk. Maureen: maureenmitchell123@btinternet.com; 07760410366
