On Friday 19 April 2013 we set off up Kirkton Glen from Balquhidder on a perfect morning of bright sunshine, no wind and with a few remaining patches of snow higher up. Fifteen of us set off up the forest track accompanied by two small dogs and an hour and a half later we all arrived at the Lochan an Eireannaich at the bealach where we enjoyed both lunch and the amazing views to the north.
We then retraced our steps down to the forest track but took the higher route back which gave some excellent views south and west down Loch Voil.
The day was made even better by finding a cake and coffee stop at the newly opened Mhor 84, formerly the King’s House Hotel, back at the junction with the main road. A most enjoyable day.
