Walk from Dollar to Glendevon

Thursday 22 May 2014

Twelve walkers set off on a 'there and back' walk along the ancient 'Cadgers' Yett' track used by drovers to take cattle from Aucherarder to Falkirk. The vertical path above Castle Campbell was a bit daunting but we had superb views over the castle and the Forth Valley - the weather was fine throughout though rain had been forecast. Then the path levelled out and we passed Glenquay reservoir and slopes newly planted by the Woodland Trust. There were swathes of brilliantly intense bluebells and the banks of one burn were dotted with primroses in flower. We dropped down into Glendevon and had possibly the world's biggest sandwiches at the Tormaukin Inn, enjoying a bit of leisure before we creaked back into action. The return walk was lovely - we covered about 10 miles in all and as Maureen said, it could be called the Talking Group as the conversation is as lively as the action.
