Devilla Forest Walk

Friday 25 April 2014

We speculated about the name (the presence of the dogs made us think of Cruella de Ville and her dalmatians) but Helen Ross has discovered that it probably comes from the Gaelic 'dubh eilean', black isle - prehistoric coffins, stone circles and Roman urns have been found in the forest. It was a circular walk in fine weather round Peppermill Dam and Moor Loch. Then we went for a delicious lunch at the Walled Garden, a short distance up the A985.
