Sauchie Crags from Stirling
3 miles, 2.5 hours, starting from small parking place at bridge over Bannockburn near Wester Craigend grid ref NS761906.
A circular walk which starts off by climbing 500 ft to reach a narrow path through attractive woodland along the edge of the Crags overlooking North Third reservoir. There are excellent views over to the Perthshire hills from this undulating trail which leads us to the trig point on Lewis Hill. We then return a short distance and then descend to the dam at the north end of the reservoir which we cross before taking a lower level path back to the parking place. This is an interesting walk which gives a totally different perspective to an area so close to Stirling.
Please let me know if you are planning to come so we can arrange lifts and leave as few cars as possible as the parking area is limited. Boots or stout shoes are recommended and also a snack.
