Stronachlachar to Inversnaid and Return PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE

Friday 26 May - 10:15am
Please note the change of date. By postponing the walk by one day we will be able to take the 10.30 ferry from the Trossachs pier and return on the 2.30 ferry from Stronaclachar. This walk offers an interesting combination of a sail on an iconic steamship and a walk in amazing surroundings so do consider coming along.

We would like to offer the option of taking the ferry to Stronaclachar where there is an excellent café at the pier.  The ferry arrives there at 11.30 which would give us three hours to walk along the new Great Trossachs Path towards Inversnaid, but probably turning round at the RSPB centre at Garrison Farm (where there are toilets).  The path gently undulates and has a good surface so boots would not be necessary.  The surrounding countryside is magnificent with great views in all directions.

The cost of the ferry is £14 return, plus £3 for car parking.  Obviously if you prefer you can drive directly to Stronaclachar but the road from Kinlochard is narrow, slow and windy so the ferry offers an interesting option.  The walkers will leave from the Pier Café at 11.30.  There is free car parking and there are toilets there.  There are refreshments available both at the Trossachs and Stronaclachar piers but as we will be walking over lunch time a packed lunch would be a good idea.

Please let Bill Kidd know as soon as possible by email (postmaster@eileenandbill.plus.com) if you are planning to come along, and especially if you are planning to come on the ferry as we will have to let the steamship company know our numbers.
