Devilla Forest Walk, Kincardine, Fife

Friday 25 April - 10:00am
This is a pleasant fairly flat round walk of almost 6 miles mainly on Forestry Commission tracks. The route skirts Moor Loch and Peppermill Dam. A walking time of about 3 hours is anticipated.

Directions to meeting point: from the M876 cross the Kincardine Bridge and then take the A985 towards Kirkcaldy for about 2 miles. You will soon see and enter Devilla Forest. When there is forest on both sides of the road, ignore the first parking place on the left and continue for about 300 metres where you will see a large car park with a sign for the forest on the left hand side at OS grid reference 964871 (OS 1:50,000 sheet 65). We shall meet at this car park at 10am on Friday 25th April.

Outline of walk: this is a pleasant fairly flat round walk of almost 6 miles mainly on Forestry Commission tracks. The route skirts Moor Loch and Peppermill Dam. At the latter a stop will be made for coffee (take your own!!). In places the path can be quite muddy and slippery, so boots or strong walking shoes are recommended. A walking time of about 3 hours is anticipated.

Alternative shorter walk from the car park: follow the signs for the Red Squirrel path which takes about 50 minutes (1¼ miles).

Light lunches, sandwiches, etc are available at The Walled Garden, Righead Farm nearby.
